The Innovation Agency consistently organizes exchange programs to leading countries in the technological and innovative spheres in order to familiarize local startups and leaders of the innovation ecosystem with foreign investors and accelerators.

Israel -2019

The leaders of ”10 startup projects“ and the innovation ecosystem visited Jerusalem and Tel Aviv within the framework of the ”Israeli Innovation Tour”. Within the framework of this tour they got the opportunity to participate in the “2019 Ourcrowd Global Investors Summit” held on March 7 in Jerusalem. During the tour, meetings were held with startups, investors, leading incubation and acceleration centers and venture funds from different countries of the world.

Participants of the tour met with the Director General of the Israeli Innovation Agency Avi Luvton in Tel Aviv within the framework of the “Israeli Innovation Exchange Program” and visited the Technology Park in the city of Beer Sheva. The Israeli experience of cooperation with universities on the commercialization of patents was discussed here. Yotam Tzuker, the head of Tech7, who attended the meeting, gave detailed information about the activity of the Technopark and exchanged views with startup and ecosystem leaders from Azerbaijan.  Yotam Tzuker emphasized the great role of universities in the formation of the ecosystem, gave useful advice to startups and answered their questions.

America – 2018

17 startup representatives from Azerbaijan visited Silicon Valley within the framework of the USA Innovation Exchange Program with the support of the Innovation Agency. Within the framework of the visit, startups met with accelerators, companies and investors such as Plug and Play, MassChallange, Apple, Nutanix, Cambridge Innovation Centre (CIC), Fullbridge, Venture Cafe in San Francisco, San Jose, Boston and New York.

Within the framework of this visit, the winners of the “Fast Track” Acceleration Program were announced.

The winners of the “Fast Track” acceleration program implemented by the Innovation Agency were announced within the US Innovation Exchange Program and certificates enabling them to participate in the program were presented to them.  The jury and mentors group of the “Fast Track” program consisted of representatives from the USA, Israel, Poland, Turkey and Russia.

It should be noted that “Fast Track” is the first acceleration program implemented by the state agency. Startup projects that became the winners of this program receive various technical, material, legal, financial services for 4 months, receive support for the signing of contracts with public and private sector institutions and realizing sales. At the last stage of the program the selected projects are supported in attracting investments.

On the last day of the US Innovation Exchange Program, the Trans-Caspian Innovation Forum was held, co-organized by the Innovation Agency.

Azerbaijani ambassador to the United States Elin Suleymov and former US ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta made an opening speech at the forum. Among the speakers were representatives of consulates of Kazakhstan and Turkey, chairman of Small and Medium Business Development Agency Orkhan Mammadov, Director of Cambridge Innovation Center Stas Gayshan, Director of Masschallenge Global Cooperation Center Sunanda Narayan, Director of Babson Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Daniel Isenberg, Chairman of the Management Board of the Innovation Agency Tural Kerimli and other speakers.

At the end of the event, certificates were presented to the first graduates of the US Innovation Exchange Program realized by the Innovation Agency.

Dubai-2019

The “GITEX Texnology Week”  and “GİTEX Future Stars” exhibitions in Dubai ended on October 6-10. “GITEX Texnology Week” is considered one of the largest ICT exhibitions in the Middle East and the world. Every year world technology leaders, enterprises and startups come together at the exhibition. This year, “GITEX” exhibition hosted 4,800 companies from more than 100 countries. Here, technology companies developing in different directions demonstrated their products to the world’s leading industry leaders, influential organizations and potential investors. 3D printing, VR/AR, drones, robotics and other products in the sphere of technologies and innovations were presented at the exhibition. Managers of the Innovation Agency Fariz Guliyev, Ayan Kerimova, Tural Magsudov participated in the exhibition from Azerbaijan within the framework of the InEx exchange program and held meetings with international venture funds and investors. Discussions on cooperation in the field of development of hi-tech products and services were held with Japan’s Foreign Trade Organization and Korea’s Small and Medium-sized Entrepreneurship Organization. The issue of residency for foreign innovative enterprises was also the subject of negotiations in order to implement the collection and sale of technological products. The formation of the startup environment and residence, financing, trading, production and collection opportunities of the Italian technological enterprises in Azerbaijan were investigated with the Italian Trade Agency’s office in Dubai. Support and financing of the idea, product and service production aimed at the development of startup ecosystem in Azerbaijan was also discussed with Saudi Arabia’s Technological Development and Investment Organization, Export Agency, “Elham startup” organization, “Badr Incubation and Acceleration”, United Arab Emirates’ “Hub71 – Mabadala Startup Incubation and Acceleration” agencies.

China-2019

The 7th China-Central Asia Cooperation forum was held in Nanjing, China. Relevant documents were signed at the forum on “Discussion of cooperation on land and sea unification, stimulation of development through innovations” and the final Declaration was distributed. China-Central Asian Women’s Forum was also held within the framework of the event to promote women’s development.

Ayan Kerimova, a member of the Management Board of the Innovation Agency, took part in the forum.

The delegation took part in the industrial tours in the cities of Nanjing, Qinzhou and Beihai. They visited the ports, the Innovation Center for the development of “Smart Cities”, The China-Singapore International Logistics Park. The dynamic development of Azerbaijani-Chinese relations in recent years, cooperation issues within the framework of the “One Pipeline, One Way” initiative were also discussed at the meetings.
